RINGANA Review: What I Think Of Their Fresh Cosmetics
RINGANA is an Austrian “fresh cosmetics” brand, and after reading the labels on their products, I went away impressed. The ingredients are clean, the active levels are real, and the company is easy to check. For 14 years I’ve been reading labels so you don’t have to, and only a few brands meet my very high standards. RINGANA is one of them. In fact, I secured my place in its US founding launch. Here’s what I’ve found, including my open questions.
What Is RINGANA?
RINGANA is an Austrian, family-owned company that makes fresh cosmetics and supplements. A husband-and-wife team, Andreas Wilfinger and Ulla Wannemacher, founded it in 1996 after they read the ingredient list on their young son’s toothpaste and didn’t like what they saw. Instead of switching brands, they built their own.
Three decades later, the founding family still runs the company. Everything is developed and made in-house at their campus in St. Johann in der Haide, Austria, which runs on geothermal and solar energy. RINGANA sells through independent partners and online in 39 countries across Europe and Latin America. It also publishes yearly transparency and impact reports, which I like. That’s measurement, not mood.
Now for the big news: RINGANA is investing $85 million in its first US headquarters, production, and distribution center in Roanoke, Virginia. The US launch is planned for 2026, and the project is set to create 435 jobs over five years.
What Products Does RINGANA Make?
RINGANA makes more than 300 products across a few main lines, covering skin, body, and daily nutrition. Here’s the range at a glance:
- FRESH SKINCARE: face creams, serums, toners, cleansers, eye care, and sun care.
- BODY AND HAIR CARE: body wash, lotions, hand and lip care, and shampoo.
- CAPS & BEYOND: capsule supplements for things like immunity, digestion, and healthy aging.
- COMPLETE: balanced meal-replacement drinks.
- SPORT: plant proteins and pre-workout and endurance support.
- FRESH BABY: nutrient-dense and barrier-supportive baby products.
Is “Fresh Cosmetics” Real, Or Just A Buzzword?
At RINGANA, “fresh” means something real, and you can check it on the label. RINGANA makes its products in small batches every two days and gives every one a real expiration date, about six months out, like food. Most cosmetics are built to sit on a shelf for three years, and that limits what you can put in them. A product built for six months has room for fragile plant ingredients including fresh juices, ferments, and delicate plant compounds at levels most cosmetics never attempt.
Frequent small batches are one part of how RINGANA goes without synthetic preservatives. I read the full ingredient lists on creams, serums, toners, cleansers, body wash, sun care, hand care, and lip care and found none of the common ones: no phenoxyethanol, no parabens, no benzyl alcohol, no formaldehyde releasers, and no isothiazolinones. Not even gentle sodium benzoate or potassium sorbate, which most clean brands use.
How Does RINGANA Keep Products Safe Without Synthetic Preservatives?
RINGANA keeps products safe with a layered method called a hurdle system. Instead of one strong chemical, it uses several small barriers against germs:
- Multi-purpose ingredients: Their main job is to moisturize or blend, but they also slow germ growth. Examples: pentylene glycol, propanediol, glycerin, glyceryl caprylate, phenethyl alcohol, and caprylyl glycol.
- pH control: Lactic acid, citric acid, and sodium citrate set a pH that germs don’t like.
- Ferments and plant extracts: Radish root ferment, aspen bark extract, and rosemary extract help fight microbes.
- Sterile production and airless packaging: These keep germs out in the first place.
- Antioxidants: Vitamin E and sodium phytate keep the fresh plant material from going bad.
The last hurdle is the key one: a short shelf life. Unopened products last for six months from production, and every product carries a real expiration date, like food. That’s the trade the whole idea rests on, and it cuts both ways. A product built to last three years on a shelf limits what you can put in it. A product built for six months has room for fragile plant ingredients including fresh juices, ferments, and delicate plant compounds at levels most cosmetics never attempt.

What’s Actually Inside RINGANA Products?
Inside, RINGANA acts less like a “free-from” brand and more like a potent formulation house. The active ingredients are strong and, better yet, the brand states the amounts. Here’s what stood out:
- Encapsulated bakuchiol at 3% and retinal at 0.18%: One is a plant-based retinol alternative; the other is a well-studied form of vitamin A. Both are at meaningful levels.
- A full peptide program: Peptides are short chains of amino acids, and different types do different jobs. RINGANA uses the main kinds: some for firmness and texture, some for expression lines, one that carries copper to support renewal, and others for puffiness and dark circles.
- Niacinamide at 4 to 5% and vitamin C up to 15%: These are the ranges the research supports.
- Ceramides 2.5%: An encapsulated complex plus a seven-ceramide blend for barrier repair.
- Ectoin up to 2%: It helps skin hold water and stay calm, plus hyaluronic acid in several molecular weights. Your skin makes less hyaluronic acid as you age.
- Some truly new actives: Alpine willowherb, special ferments, microbiome complexes, and upcycled apple peel and plankton extracts.
Is RINGANA Vegan?
Yes, every RINGANA product is vegan. There are no animal-derived ingredients, not even the ones that hide in plain sight like beeswax, lanolin, or carmine. On animal testing, there’s something stronger than a company promise here. The products are made in Austria and sold across the European Union, where testing cosmetics or their ingredients on animals has been illegal since 2013. Selling an animal-tested product is illegal there too. So, this is not a pledge you have to take on faith. It’s the law where RINGANA operates.
Are RINGANA Products Organic?
Most RINGANA products are COSMOS-certified through Ecocert Greenlife. COSMOS is an independent European standard that audits the whole product, not just the ingredient list. It checks where raw materials come from, how they are processed, and what the packaging is made of. It also bans GMO raw materials, which is why you won’t find them anywhere in the range.
There are two tiers, and knowing the difference helps you read the label. COSMOS ORGANIC is the stricter tier and requires a minimum share of organically farmed ingredients. For RINGANA that share runs from about 45% up to 85%, depending on the product. COSMOS NATURAL means the product meets the natural standard but does not reach the organic threshold.
What Is RINGANA’s Glass Bottle Return Program?
RINGANA’s skincare comes in glass, not plastic, and the glass does not end its life in your recycling bin. You send the empty bottles back, RINGANA pays for the shipping, and the bottles are cleaned, sterilized, and refilled. Reused, not melted down and remade. Most brands that talk about sustainable packaging are talking about recyclable plastic, which usually means you hope someone recycles it. This is a company taking its own packaging back and paying for the trip. It also explains the airless glass containers: packaging that protects a preservative-free formula and is built to be used more than once. Moreover, the glass bottles are wrapped in organic cotton towels. How cool is that?
What Surprised Me About The Supplements
RINGANA supplements and drinks contain no added flavorings at all, not even “natural flavors.” I checked the labels on the liquid drinks, the daily packs, the sport line, and several capsules. The taste comes only from real food ingredients like fruit juice concentrates, monk fruit extract, herbal teas, and sea salt. Under EU food rules, flavorings must be listed if they are used, and they are not there. If you follow my supplement reviews, you know how rare that is.
What I Like, And What I’m Still Watching
What earns my respect is that RINGANA is comfortable being checked. The preservation system is real and you can verify it on the label. The active amounts are stated and match the research. The transparency reports are unusually thorough, and the company says the package in your hand is always the final word on ingredients.
What I’m still watching is the trade-off behind all of this. A six-month shelf life asks something of you: buy what you’ll actually use, and store it well. The cost math changes when a product cannot sit in a drawer for a year. The US product range, US pricing, and any formula changes have not been announced yet, and I haven’t done my own long-term testing. That review will come once products reach American soil, and it’ll be as honest as everything else I write.
Why Does RINGANA Sell Through Partners?
RINGANA sells directly through independent partners rather than on store shelves, and I understand why that gives some of you pause. I’ve spent 14 years telling you to question what companies claim, no matter how they sell. So let me hold RINGANA to that same standard, with a model I know from the inside.
Here’s how I’ve come to see it. A bottle on a shelf cannot explain itself. It cannot tell you why it has an expiration date, what a peptide does, or why the ingredient list looks the way it does. A person can. That’s the real work partners do. They help you understand what you’re putting on your skin and swap out ingredients you’d rather avoid.
It also helps to look at the facts. RINGANA has been in business for 30 years, sells in 39 markets, makes its products in-house, and is spending $85 million on US manufacturing before selling a single product in US. That’s not the profile of a quick scheme.
A note for those who’ve asked. I’m part of the founding group bringing RINGANA to the US, and a few of you have already asked how to be involved. Founding partners get first access to products, exclusive calls with the corporate team to continue gathering information, and help RINGANA grow throughout the USA. If that’s you, email me directly and tell me a little bit about yourself.
