Pure Haven Compensation Plan Explained
I signed up as a Pure Haven consultant in 2019 because I fell in love with their shampoo. The Pure Haven non-irritating shampoo made my hair shiny and voluptuous. And its ingredients were the safest among hundreds of soap-free shampoos I had reviewed. I loved the Pure Haven haircare products so much that I wanted to share them with others. Also, I wanted to be compensated for my expertise and work. In short, I signed up for the shampoo and later I realized that there was so much more that Pure Haven could offer.
In this blog, you’ll learn about my first-hand experience with Pure Haven. Specifically, we’ll go over the Pure Haven compensation plan and why joining Pure Haven as a consultant is more generous and beneficial than joining any affiliate program. As an MBA graduate, a tenacious product researcher since 2012, a product manufacturer advisor, and an online business owner facing thousands of people daily, I am aware of the misinformation on the Internet about direct sales companies, or MLMs. We’ll dive into these terms and address both the truth and the lies out there so you can make informed decisions based on the accurate knowledge. This is especially critical for bloggers who want to earn money while making the world a better place.
Pure Haven Compensation Plan Explained
In this easy-to-read post, you will get the basics of the Pure Haven compensation plan. For me, getting paid to share products that I strongly believe in is win/win! The icing on the cake is the fact that Pure Haven structures its compensation plan to be simple and fair to the consultants – much better than any affiliate program. So it is possible to grow your income in ways you might not have thought were possible. So, let’s get to how you can earn extra money by promoting these great toxin-free products and educating people about non-toxic living.
In short, you can earn money in two ways: by selling products to customers and by building a team that sells products to customers. Building a team is optional.
Selling To Customers – Pure Haven Retail Commissions
The first way you earn money as a consultant is by selling products to customers. As a Pure Haven consultant, you can earn anywhere between 20% and 40% on products you sell, depending upon your monthly volume. As you can see in the table below, in addition to 20% base retail sales commission, you will earn “power bonuses” when you sell over $300 in a calendar month. That is called your personal sales volume (PV).
The great news is that you will earn on the first dollar without any minimum thresholds. And once your volume hits $300, you will start earning 25% (and more) on the whole volume.
For example, you are a brand-new consultant, and your friend buys $500 worth of products (for herself or as gifts). You will receive a direct deposit of 20% next Friday ($500 x 0.20 = $100). Later in the month, let’s say you have a launch virtual or in-person party, post on social media and/or your website, or send an email, and you have 4 more people who purchase a total of $700. You’ll get another direct deposit next Friday of ($700 x 0.20 = $140). After the month ends, you’ll receive your “power bonus” direct deposit of 10%, because you had $1,200 in sales for the month ($1,200 x 0.10 = $120). You’ve earned 30% on everything you sold that month, so $360 for selling $1,200! This personal sales commission structure is the same for all consultants. No matter when you join and regardless of what “rank” you hold.
Pure Haven Simple Start 1 And Start 2 Bonuses
In addition to the personal sales/retail commissions, Pure Haven offers very generous simple start success bonuses. If, within the first 15 days after you sign up, you sell $600 in products, you will achieve Simple Start Success Level 1 and will receive a $200 shopping spree. That means that you will receive $200 worth of Pure Haven products of your choosing. To achieve Simple Start Success Level 2, you will need to make additional sales in the amount of $400+ in the next 15 days (cumulative total $1000+ in your first 30 days). The Simple Start Success Level 2 bonus is $100 in cash. By the way, Pure Haven sometimes runs additional bonuses and incentives. So be sure to contact me to see what is currently available.
To achieve these two levels easily, think in terms of bundles. In my personal experience, people love Pure Haven Skincare and Essentials bundles. They save money for the customers, give them products that work well together, and prevent overwhelm.
Pure Haven Preferred Customers
In addition, by purchasing one of the Non-Toxic Skincare or Essentials bundles, your customers will be qualified to enroll as a preferred customer. This is optional! They can also enroll in the preferred customer program by placing an order of $150+. They get free shipping on this initial order and then:
- Free monthly special on all orders of $95+
- Free shipping on all future orders of $70+
- 10% off on all future orders of $150+
- Access to 1-2 extra special products each month at 20% off
- First access to special promotions (e.g. Black Friday)
- Convenient (optional) bi-monthly (every 60 days) replenishment reminders/orders. They can edit or defer whenever they want to; there is no requirement that they place any minimum order.
Those are pretty generous perks, and some of the most generous I’ve seen. And the benefit to you is regular and happy customers who can easily switch to a non-toxic lifestyle. As a Pure Haven consultant, you will gain additional rewards points on preferred customer purchases that you can use to get Pure Haven products of their choice. The good news is that Pure Haven offers a wide variety of toxin-free products that customers can use both on their body and at home.
Pure Haven Consultant Program Vs Affiliate Programs For Bloggers
If you are a blogger, most likely you know what affiliate programs are. Basically, an affiliate program is a link with a tracking code. When people click on the link and make a purchase, you get paid commissions. Normally, companies pay anywhere between 5% to 100% in commissions. The first time a company offered me 100% commissions, I was pleasantly surprised until I realized that the commissions were paid on the first purchase only. In other words, most affiliate programs are actually just referral programs.
Conversely, Pure Haven will pay you commissions on all repeat sales. In fact, after the initial purchase, you don’t need to get your customers to click on your Pure Haven link anymore for you to get commissions on their order. You’ll earn money every single time for as long as they order! This is the beauty of scalable semi-passive business!
Don’t get me wrong – I am not against affiliate or sponsored promotions. On the contrary, the key is to build a diversified online business that compensates you for helping other people live healthier and better long term, again and again!
Building A Pure Haven Team
The next way to earn money is by adding other consultants to your team, often called “recruiting” or “sponsoring.” This is optional. You get to decide whether you want to build a team. Recruiting people is not required, but you can earn overrides for supporting, coaching, and helping others sell. This is also an additional way to make money. As your team (often called your “downline”) grows and sells products, you’ll get some small commissions on the volume of your downline. These small commissions do not reduce the amount that your downline consultants earn; the commissions are paid to you by the company.
Simple Start Sponsoring Bonuses
When you sponsor a new consultant onto your team, you earn 20% of the commissionable volume they generate in their first 30 days. For a new consultant on your 2nd Level (i.e. somebody you sponsor sponsors somebody else), you earn 5% of what they sell during their first 30 days. This is a fantastic extra incentive for you to help your new consultants start simply and strongly.
Team Overrides
The percentage overrides that you earn on your team’s sales depends on the “rank” that you qualify for during a calendar month. These overrides can range from 5% to 11% of your team members’ sales. It is important to note that the commissions are paid on the commissionable volume. Which is sales volume minus commissions paid to the consultant who generated the sale. For example, when you generate a $500 sale, your upline receives 5% – 11% (depending on the rank your upline qualifies at) on $375, not on the $500.
As you can see, you get paid higher amounts for your personal sales (20%-40%), starting the day that you join. This is important so that new consultants can start to earn some real money without necessarily needing to build a team.
Initially, I chose to focus on the first way of earning money – selling products to customers. However, after seeing how Pure Haven products truly help people, and how people having success in the business part has helped their lives and lifestyles change for the better, I decided to build a Pure Haven team and focus on making sure people know the benefits of joining as a consultant instead of just being a customer.
Pure Haven Team Member Titles
These are the titles you can achieve with Pure Haven:
- Consultant
- Senior Consultant
- Ambassador
- Senior Ambassador
- Executive Ambassador
- Bronze Ambassador
- Silver Ambassador
- Gold Ambassador
- Platinum Ambassador
- Diamond Ambassador
- National Ambassador
- Presidential Ambassador
- Global Ambassador
Developing Other Leaders
While you make the highest commissions on your own sales (called personal volume), as you build a team who sell more products together, your commission overrides will grow. As you mentor your team, you’ll help them grow their own businesses and promote to new rank as well. You will earn bonuses as that happens, and you will make higher commissions on their sales. Essentially, as you help grow more leaders, you get paid more since you’ve helped your team to collectively get more products out into the world! It makes sense that I earn commissions from my team because I help them grow their own business. Similar to a manager in corporate America getting a bigger bonus when his/her team hits their goals.
As consultants, we focus on education on healthy living and how Pure Haven products are truly toxin-free and tested for contaminants. Therefore, if you are a blogger and educate your audience on healthy/non-toxic living, Pure Haven will fit right in. And from the business side, Pure Haven will allow you to get away from trading one hour of work for one-hour pay or several hours of work for one-hour pay. You’ll be surprised how many bloggers make very little or no money because they aren’t yet aligned with a consumable product line that offers residual income! You can learn more about Pure Haven in my full review of their products.
Pure Haven Business Opportunity
The primary business model for Pure Haven is direct sales to consumer. And most of the sales are person-to-person through consultants. That means that as an independent consultant, you earn a commission on anything you sell (similar to a real estate agent getting a commission when they sell a house).
You also have the option to grow and mentor a team and make smaller commissions on their sales. Most consultants spend only a few hours a week selling. And some who use blogs to promote Pure Haven can spend even less time. Those who want to advance to higher titles will spend more time.
I believe that Pure Haven offers a true opportunity because anyone who is willing to put forth a little effort can make money with Pure Haven. There are no education or skillset requirements. You don’t have to make investments in the Pure Haven business opportunity. You don’t have to buy products and store them in your home and worry about re-selling them. (Some companies require this, and that’s why some people have had bad experience with other types of direct sales companies).
You don’t even have to build a website.
In my case, it took me 6 years to start making a living after I founded the I Read Labels For You blog. I was so stressed that I ended up in an acute care hospital with adrenal crisis. And literally almost died before they properly diagnosed me. (You can learn about my health update here, if you will.)
The great news is you don’t have to go through the stress of a starting a business from scratch the way I did. For only $35 sign-up fee, Pure Haven will provide you with a replica website and helpful training so you can be successful. A replica website is one that appears to be Pure Haven’s, but it is personalized with your contact information. All you have to do is provide customers a link to your replica website. And you are off and running and earning money.
Pure Haven Compensation Plan FAQs
How Much Do Pure Haven Consultants Make?
So, how much money can you make under the Pure Haven compensation plan? First, keep in mind that earnings with Pure Haven may vary significantly. Earnings depend on many factors and not all consultants will earn money. It will depend on your dedication, attitude, and consistency. On average, working Pure Haven consultants earn between $500 and $1,000 monthly. But I know people who earn a very good living working with Pure Haven.
Do You Need A Large Social Media Following To Be Successful With Pure Haven?
Not at all! With social media, as with anything, it is about the quality of relationships, not quantity. I have seen bloggers with 1 million followers who could not sell even 3 T-shirts.
Is There A Fee For Signing Up?
Yes, Pure Haven’s sign-up fee is $35. It’s a one-time $35 enrollment and includes your personal website that you can share with others to shop (free for your first two months, then $4.95 a month after that). All consultants get access to product training, business education, business analysis & tracking, and digital marketing tools. There’s an optional customer newsletter that you can subscribe to for $29.95/6 months. This is a GREAT deal when I compare it to the hefty costs of maintaining the I Read Labels For You website and email list.
Do I Have To Buy Products When I Enroll As A Pure Haven Consultant?
There are no required product purchases when you join Pure Haven, or ever, actually. But, of course, you want lots of the non-toxic and high-performing products, right? The more products you use yourself, the easier it will be for you to share your personal experience with others and to sell more products. Once you join as a consultant, you can buy all the products you want – at your 20-40% consultant discount. Also, you can earn that $200 shopping spree we talked about earlier!
What Are Pure Haven Minimums?
There are no minimum purchases or inventory requirements. The only minimum is to sell $500 in products every six months, January – June and July – December, not including the interval during which you join. If you buy products for yourself, they count toward the $500 minimum. Pure Haven’s average order is well over $100. So one really good customer or just a few typical customers will generate enough volume to exceed this minimum.
What Happens If You Don’t Hit The Minimum?
You’ll be switched from a consultant to a customer. There are no penalties of any kind.
Is Pure Haven A Pyramid Scheme?
Pure Haven is not a pyramid scheme. By the way, pyramid schemes are illegal in the US. I studied them in my MBA program. Pyramid schemes were a form of investment in which each paying participant recruited further participants with returns being given to early participants using money contributed by later ones. In other words, as the US Federal Trade Commission explains, your income would be based mostly on how many people you recruited, not on how many products you sold. As you read earlier, this is not the case with Pure Haven. The only way money is earned at Pure Haven is through the sale of actual products.
And yes, even though pyramid schemes are illegal, that does not mean they don’t exist. Here is a tip on how to detect a pyramid scheme: you pay money, get nothing tangible in return right away, and are “promised” to be paid in the future.
Does Pure Haven Use “Predatory Practices?”
I want to address something I hear now and then in response to my posts about Pure Haven on social media. Sometimes, people will say that they would never do business with any direct sales company because of “predatory practices.” The phrase sounds scary, but what exactly does it mean? When I ask the people who use these words for an explanation, they just dig their heels in indignantly, as if it’s supposed to be clear. So let’s unpack these words a bit.
My husband the attorney says that the phrase comes from banking law, and specifically, lending. The US Department of Justice defines “predatory lending” as:
Predatory lending practices, broadly defined, are the fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair tactics some people use to dupe us into mortgage loans that we can’t afford. Burdened with high mortgage debts, the victims of predatory lending can’t spare the money to keep their houses in good repair .
(source)
In case of direct sales companies, what do people mean when they accuse them of “predatory practices?”
I have done a lot of research into this and can tell you that I am not sure what they mean.
I suppose their allegations are that such companies:
- lie to women by promising them untattainable earnings
- mislead women as to how the business works and then somehow trap them into buying more products than they need for themselves
- make women pay high initial payments and give nothing in return
- exploit women by making them work hard for nothing.
Maybe, this is what it is?
If any of this were true, it would certainly be an issue for me, and I would steer people away from such companies. But it’s not fair to paint all direct sales companies with the same brush. Pure Haven has been very good to me and my colleagues. I have never heard about any instances of anything that seemed remotely fraudulent, deceptive or unfair about the way they treat their consultants. Every conversation I’ve had with top leaders and company leadership has been honest and transparent. That’s why I ask people what they mean when they accuse MLMs of predatory practices. OK, well, what have you heard? All I ever hear back is crickets.
I can’t speak as to all direct sales companies, but I can tell you that in my experience, Pure Haven has been great in helping women own their own businesses and achieve financial independence on their own terms. What could be more praiseworthy?
Is Pure Haven An MLM?
Online I found an outdated and inaccurate definition of an MLM business model as “endless chain of recruitment of participants as primary customers.” As you have learned, Pure Haven does not require recruitment of participants/consultants. Furthermore, if you do decide to build a team (i.e., recruit others), you are only compensated if they buy (for themselves) and/or sell to others actual products. There is no money earned just by “recruiting.” Thus, based on this definition, Pure Haven is not an MLM.
What If I Don’t Know Anything About The Products Or How To Make Recommendations?
Pure Haven provides training on everything: on the products, on how to use them, and on how to make recommendations. There’s training on how to grow your own business. And there’s training on how to mentor and support your team, if you go that route.
For my own team, I provide additional resources, including one-on-one coaching calls. Normally, my consultations for my clients are $197 for a one-hour session, but as a member of my team you can talk to me at no charge.
In addition, I have put together a lot of resources to help you start and grow your business. I have invested a lot of time and effort into creating these resources. It is in my best interests to help you make money, because the Pure Haven compensation plan encourages me to help my downlines grow their businesses, and I take this responsibility to heart.
How Much Time Does It Take To Work As A Pure Haven Consultant?
This is really up to you. It depends on how much income you’d like to generate. Some women spend just a few hours a week or a month on their business. Others spend 10 hours a week. And some women spend 20-30+ hours a week, making it a focus in their lives. (You get to decide what “full time” means to you!)
Bottom Line About Pure Haven Compensation Plan
In sum, Pure Haven offers a great compensation plan because it fairly and generously compensates people who are willing to do some work. If you are a blogger, the Pure Haven consultant program is much better than any affiliate program to help you monetize your blog and share the mission of non-toxic living because you’ll automatically get paid on repeat sales of toxin-free products. You don’t have to worry about how long your “cookie” will last or whether a tracking code tracks your referrals every time.
If you are passionate about helping people switch to clean products to improve their health and would like to make extra income of the size of your choosing, consider joining Pure Haven as a valued member of my team. Keep in mind that from time to time Pure Haven offers additional incentives, so feel free to contact me to find out about them and with any questions about the Pure Haven compensation plan that you can access here.
