AD 2000 3-stage filtration system (read about AD Smart 2000i below):
- Pre-filter for larger contaminants like dust and animal hair; can be vacuumed or hand-washed to be reused.
- Carbon/Gas Trap/VOC filter that combines two types of media – activated carbon (260 grams (0.5 lbs)) to remove odors and gases (e.g., smoke) and potassium permanganate to deactivate certain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like formaldehyde; filter replacement – every 6 months.
- UltraHEPA filter that removes 100% of airborne particles at 0.003 microns (to compare, HEPA filters (like in Austin Air purifiers) remove 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns and 95% of particles 0.1 microns and larger); filter replacement – every 12 months.
The unit should be effective at filtering ultrafine particles such as mycotoxins and viruses (e.g., COVID-19). I also captures mold spores but does not eliminate mold (to eliminate mold, its sources should be professionally remediated). The WhisperJet fan is potentially 30% quieter than the fans in air purifiers by other brands. Return policy: 30-day full refund.
In addition to the 3-stage filtration system, the AD Smart 2000i features Wi-Fi connection and some Wi-Fi benefits. The regular price is $439, but with my link you can purchase it at a significant discount. The Wi-Fi benefits include:
- Indoor Air Quality Alerts
- Local Weather & Allergy Monitoring
- Filter Change Alerts – No more guesswork!
- Indoor Temperature & Humidity Monitoring
- Control AirDoctor From Anywhere
- Shared Purifier Control with Others
The California Air Resources Board categorizes both AD 2000 and AD 2000i as “electronic” air cleaners, meaning that they may be capable of generating small amounts of ozone. But they have been tested and found to produce an ozone emission concentration of less than 0.05 parts per million. The ionizing setting can be turned on and turned off.
