Percale, sateen, or linen: how to choose
All three are GOTS-certified organic. The difference is the weave, and the weave decides how the sheets feel.
- Percale is a 300 thread count, one-over-one-under weave. It’s crisp, light, and cooling, which suits hot sleepers.
- Sateen is a 400 thread count, four-over-one-under weave. It’s softer, drapier, and carries a slight sheen.
- Linen is woven from French flax at a deliberately low 200 thread count. It’s stone-washed, breezy, and looks relaxed.
Naturepedic also carries a Supima cotton line, which the brand positions as its best. Percale and sateen run from twin to California king. Linen starts at queen.
What Naturepedic leaves out of the fabric
Sheets touch your skin for hours every night, so fabric finishes matter as much as the fiber itself. Naturepedic uses no harsh chemical fabric treatments, and that includes formaldehyde resins and heavy metal dyes.
Beyond GOTS, the sheets carry MADE SAFE and PETA-Approved Vegan certification. Naturepedic states that its materials are screened for more than 15,000 toxic substances.
Skip the top sheet if you prefer
Each set comes two ways. The standard set includes one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and two pillowcases. The partial set drops the flat sheet, leaving one fitted sheet and two pillowcases.
We usually swap the top sheet for a cozy duvet, which makes the partial set the practical pick. You can also buy sheet separates and order a single fitted sheet or just pillowcases.
The layers that go on top
Naturepedic makes duvet covers and pillow shams in percale and linen. Match your sheets, or mix the two. For the insert itself, their alpaca wool duvet insert comforter pairs with any Naturepedic duvet cover.
Their organic cotton blankets come in waffle and muslin. Both are GOTS-certified organic cotton.
