Earthley powder laundry detergent is one of the safest in my guide to the safest laundry detergents made of simple ingredients, including washing soda and soap.  Earthley dishwasher detergent is in the “best” category among 73 dishwasher detergents in my guide.  It might not work well in hard water, though.  (Consider getting help with purchasing a water softener.)  The scented versions of both laundry and dishwasher detergents are scented with essential oils only.  For more information, read below.

More info

Earthley laundry detergent contains a plant enzyme called bromelain.  If regularly inhaled in large quantities, it may cause respiratory irritation and sensitization, so make sure the laundry detergent is not airborne.  However, with appropriate handling of the detergent, the exposure to enzymes is insignificant (hence, they are rated favorably as “B” by the EWG).  Importantly, enzymes help with performance substantially.  If you prefer non-toxic laundry detergents without enzymes, check out Meliora Laundry Powder or Humble Suds Laundry Soap.
