You will not believe it but at the age of 25, I was obsessed with not getting old. I visited beauty salons in futile attempts to reverse my aging. In addition to what I considered to be wrinkles, I had acne and my skin was quite dry. Besides, the skin on my nose was constantly peeling off, and I had dark circles under my eyes. Oh boy! Just writing about it makes me shiver! Now (just a year or two older), I am grateful for my healthy and youthful look – in a large part, thanks to my quick non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine.
On the brink of my 44th birthday, I’m happy to admit that my skin looks better now than it did when I was 25. As some of you have asked, I’d like to tell you about products that I am currently using. I have found a way to keep my skin not only clean but also very well nourished and rejuvenated. I’m glad to know that the products I use are non-toxic and won’t undermine my recovery journey from autoimmune conditions. It is my pleasure to share with you my non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine.
My evening non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine
My evening non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine consists of just two steps – cleansing and nourishment. To wash off the makeup, I use the Unscented Cleansing Oil by Badger. This cleansing oil is not only affordable but also has a very good effect on my skin. It removes my foundation and mascara effectively, does not change the natural pH of my skin and, thus, does not dry my skin. This means that I can skip two steps in my daily skincare routine, which are toning and moisturizing.
First, I rub one pump of oil between my palms, put my palms on my face and rub the oil into my skin.
Second, I wet a facial cloth under hot running water and wring it. I press the hot washcloth and wipe my face off with one side. Then I run the washcloth under the hot water again and wipe my face with the other side. This cleans my skin well and opens up the pores for the next step of my non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine, which is nourishment.
For nourishment, I use a vitamin A serum called Gentle Retinol Night Serum by Marie Veronique. For a long time, I was afraid to use retinol skin care products because of the risk of irritation. I also could not find a retinol skincare product without concerning ingredients. I liked the ingredients of Marie Veronique so much that I decided to give it a try. And I have had no regrets since I bought it in November 2018.
Though costly, it is very economical – one pump is enough, and the results are amazing. Plus, I can use the money that I saved on the inexpensive cleanser and skipping toner and moisturizer.
My morning non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine
My morning anti-aging beauty routine consists of five steps: cleansing, massaging, moisturizing, and protection.
First, I rub one pump of pH-balanced Fresh – Mild Rice Facial Cleanser by Blissoma between my palms and place them on my face. After rubbing my face gently, I rinse the cleanser off with cool water. Since I don’t have to deal with makeup removal in the morning, I use a very gentle cleanser in my morning non-toxic anti-aging beauty routine. It does not foam and looks like a lotion. You can find out more information about Blissoma Fresh Cleanser and other non-toxic cleansers here.
Second, I massage my face with ice cubes, paying the most attention to the area under the eyes. As I mentioned above, I used to have dark circles under my eyes; however, after using ice cubes for a few weeks I’ve noticed considerable improvement. I keep massaging my skin with ice until my face feels frozen.
Third, after my skin is cleansed and massaged, and my pores are open to receive a moisturizer, I use Crunchi Daylight Facial Cream. I absolutely love this cream. It is light and hydrating. Please read my detailed report on it here. By the way, I first learned about Crunchi as a makeup company. I tried a lot of makeup and found that Crunchi offers makeup products that I consider safe, but that also perform well. The mineral pigments used in their products are not made in China; plus, they are EcoCert certified. You can read my review of Crunchi here.
The next step is sunscreen. I currently use Crunchi, but before Crunchi came out with their sunscreen, I had used one called Photonic – Light Shifting Solution SPF 25 Broad Spectrum Facial Sunscreen + Moisturizer. It is a non-greasy mineral substance with no whitening effect and lots of healthful botanical ingredients. To get more information about it and other sunscreens you might like, check out my 2019 Face Sunscreen Guide.
I am happy to report that Crunchi has just come out with a face sunscreen called Sunlight Facial Sunscreen. I have switched to it because it offers better protection. It is SPF 30! Yes, in comparison to Blissoma’s sunscreen, it has some whitening effect but I believe it is worth it. The whitening effect becomes an absolute non-issue on days when I wear Crunchi foundation for a more youthful look. I have not written an analysis of the Crunchi sunscreen ingredients yet, but I have looked at the ingredients thoroughly and decided that they are good enough for me to start using the product. Many ingredients are the same as those you see in the Crunchi Daylight Facial Cream, which you can read about here.
