Valentine's day gift guide

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

This page contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on the affiliate link and buy an item, I’ll receive commissions.

This Valentine’s Day Gift Guide will give you some good ideas for loving and caring non-toxic gifts for your romantic partners, friends, or yourself.  The great news is that some of the products on the list have discount codes!

Enjoy Flowers

Enjoy Flowers offers a variety of flowers directly from farms.  The farms use sustainable procedures such as collecting 96% of the rainwater and recycling vegetable waste into compost yearly.  My flowers arrived fresh and beautiful and looked even better three days later.  The packaging contained a minimum amount of plastic.  You can make a one-time purchase or buy a subscription.  Flowers are a great idea for a Valentine’s Day gift!  Please use the IREAD15 discount code for 15% off.

Vero Vino Wines

Vero Vino is an online boutique retailer of sustainable wines and organic olive oil that sells throughout the US to businesses and consumers alike.  They source delicious, sustainably-made wines and olive oils from farmer-artisans around the world.  They focus on the wines that are not yet available on the US market.  Vero carries a variety of sustainable wines, including wines with no added sulfites, natural wines, lower alcohol wines, and even orange wine.  I think their products are really unique, and the ones I tried were delicious!  And, best of all, they were very affordable.  We thought the sparkling wines we received were better than Dom Perignon (which we have had once or twice on very special occasions (like when we became engaged), but candidly not quite as good as our favorite French bubbly.  Still, we really loved this rose sparkling Brut and crisp high-quality prosecco at a fraction of the price of a favorite splurge!

This is another great idea for a Valentine’s Day gift!  For your information, though, they do not ship wine to Utah and Mississippi due to government laws.  Please use the IREAD discount code for 10% off.  (And if you are curious why you can’t get wine in Utah or Mississippi, my husband will bore you with the history of wine law in the US if he ever traps you at a cocktail party; let me know if you need rescuing from him!)

Chocolate

Taza Chocolate offers a variety of USDA-certified organic gluten-free chocolate and snacks for every taste and preference.  Taza Chocolate maintains direct relationships with their cacao farmers and pays a premium above the Fair Trade price for their cacao.  They partner only with cacao producers who respect the rights of workers and the environment.  Taza Chocolate minimally processes its chocolate, utilizing a stone-ground method that makes it flavor-rich.  To check out this delicious chocolate, click here.

Non-Toxic Massage Balls

Scoria, the maker of my favorite non-toxic yoga mats, also makes cork massage balls.  You can massage your shoulder blades, hamstrings, back, forearms, chest, hips, and feet by applying pressure against the wall or on the floor.  Experiment with the pressure applied and listen to your body, starting with light pressure first. They also ship to Canada.  Check out their cork message balls on the Scoria website.

Bubble Bath, Bath Salts, and Oils

Neal’s Yard Remedies, a UK-based company with long traditions of essential oils and plant-based skincare products, offers an excellent product collection for bath and essential oil lovers.  I love the fact that most of their essential oils are USDA-certified organic and some of their products are COSMOS organic.  The oils are distilled right at the farms while the plant matter is fresh.  Check out the Valentine’s Day Gift Guide collection here.

Bath Bombs Gift Set

This perfect Valentine’s Day gift set includes 6 bombs with essential oils for getting well, muscle and joint relief, bedtime ritual, and just relaxation. Please use the discount code Read12 to get 12% off.

Lightly Scented Candles

Fontana makes a wide variety of lightly scented non-toxic candles.  Typical candles are made of petroleum-based paraffin wax.  Fontana hand-makes their candles from coconut and beeswax.  In addition, the wicks are wooden, not stiffened with lead.  And the scent comes from essential oils only.  These candles are perfect to create a romantic and safe ambiance for people who do not like a strong scent.  Please use the discount code READ15 to get 15% off.

Passive Lotus Diffuser and Candles

Plant Therapy carries both USDA-certified organic and non-organic essential oils.  What I like about them is that they disclose GC/MS (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry) reports for their essential oils.  The Passive Lotus diffuser can help create a romantic and relaxing atmosphere.  By the way, Plant Therapy offers a collection of candles made of soy and coconut wax blend and a cotton wick.  In addition to essential oils, they are scented with natural fragrance to create stronger scents.  Normally, I do not recommend products with natural fragrances because they are mixtures of undisclosed ingredients.  The good news is that Plant Therapy discloses all the ingredients of their natural fragrances so be sure to check them out.  These are good options for people who prefer stronger scents.  To learn more about the candles, click here.

Heart Pillows

Holy Lamb offers heart-shaped pillows for a limited time.  They are made of eco wool. They are soft and cuddly.  Please use check them out here.

Easy Holiday Gift Guide

This easy holiday gift guide is a result of a decade-long research project that never stops.  The great news is that many of the products on the list have discount codes!

As it happens, I own and use most of what is on this holiday gift idea list.  To my knowledge, none of the practical and well-performing products you find here have any ingredients or materials of concern.  Consequently, there is hardly any potential increase of the risk of cancer, hormone disruption, and allergic reactions.  Hence, you can feel good about giving a holiday present from this list to your loved ones.

I have grouped the products in this holiday gift guide according to your budgetary needs and spheres of application.  Thus, two major categories are non-toxic products under $35 and over $35.  Check out the table of contents to get a better idea of what kind of gifts you can shop for with this easy holiday gift guide.

Guide to the IRLFY Amazon Shop

Guide to the IRLFY Healthy Products Amazon Shop

This page contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on the affiliate link and buy an item, I’ll receive commissions.

The I Read Labels for You Amazon shop contains healthy products, including healthy kitchen products, sold on Amazon that I researched and vetted for safety.  To learn about my unique method of product research, please visit the Start Here page.

The categories in the Amazon shop include but not limited to:

Dishes, Mugs, and Cups

In this category, you will find plates, bowls, mugs, and cups that are mainly made of glass.  Ceramic tableware may contain residues of heavy metals such as lead and cadmium.   Furthermore, antique tableware may contain disproportionally high levels of heavy metals.  Please read more about that in my Lead-Free Glassware Brands post.  To be on the safe side, I did not include products that are made in China. The healthy tableware products I included in the IRLFY Amazon shop are made in France or the US. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

Cookware

I researched all the possibilities for cookware and deemed uncoated carbon steel, stainless steel, and cast iron to be the safest cookware options.  To learn about how I came to this conclusion as well as about other types of cookware, please read more about that in my Safe Cookware Guide. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

Cooking Utensils

For your healthy kitchen, I added wooden and stainless steel utensils.  Eddington wooden utensils are made in Italy.  All stainless steel cooking utensils that I have seen are made in China. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

Bakeware

For healthy bakeware, I prefer stainless steel or glass products.  I do not recommend using non-stick or silicone for bakeware.  I also included in the IRLFY Amazon shop the safest parchment paper I’d found.  While it has a silicone coating, scientists found that the silicone did not leach into the food significantly. To learn more about silicone, read my Plastic Plates post. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

Spices

Here you will find USDA-certified organic spices that fared well in the Consumer Reports test of 126 products for arsenic, lead, and cadmium.  To read a full list of tested spices, click here. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

Storage Containers

For the storage of leftovers, I recommend avoiding all types of plastic, including BPA-free plastic, and choosing glass instead.  To learn more about the potential negative health effects of plastic and different types of plastic, visit my Plastic Plates post. For the storage of dry foods, stainless steel is also a good option. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

Kitchen Gadgets and Small Appliances

In this section of the IRLFY Amazon shop, I included stainless steel and glass products. Keep in mind that it is impossible to avoid products that are made in China. Go to the Amazon Shop here.

And there is a lot more. Take a look!

Guide to Best Brands Sold on iHerb website in 186 countries.

Guide to Best Brands Sold on iHerb Website

This page contains affiliate links, which means that if you click on the affiliate link and buy an item, I’ll receive commissions.

On your first purchase on the iHerb website through any links below, you can get $5 off, and on repeat orders, you can get 5% off.

Acure

Acure makes lots of different shampoos and conditioners.  And some of them are rated well in my Shampoo and Conditioner Rating List e-books.  They also carry a variety of skincare products with skin-loving ingredients as well as NSF-certified deodorants.  This Acure Radically Rejuvenating skincare line on the iHerb website looks especially good for anybody who wants to improve their skincare condition.  And all Acure products are on a 20% off sale right now.  To see all Acure products sold on iHerb, click here.

Cliganic

Cliganic offers USDA-certified organic cotton swaps, cotton rounds, oils, essential oils, and lip balms.  To see all Cliganic products sold on iHerb, click here.

Dr. Brite

Dr. Brite started as a brand of toothpastes and mouthwashes.  Now they make cleaning products and body care products.  I do not approve of their body washes and body lotions because they contain phenoxyethanol, polysorbate 60, and natural fragrance.  However, I do not see them sold on the iHerb website.  The best products sold on iHerb by Dr. Brite that I approve of are toothpastes, mouthwashes, and hand washes.  When I used Dr. Brite toothpastes and mouthwashes, I liked them a lot.  Above all, I like the fact that they use hydroxyapatite that has excellent remineralization benefits.  To see all Dr. Brite products sold on iHerb, click here.

Dr. Bronner’s

Dr. Bronner’s is a producer mainly of liquid and bar soaps and lip balms.  They are made with organic plant oils.  Most of them are scented with essential oils and plant extracts, except for almond and rose formulations.  The almond and rose soaps are scented with natural fragrance.  To be on the safe side, I recommend avoiding those.  The best products sold on the iHerb website by Dr. Bronner’s are unscented Dr. Bronner’s soap and all their lip balms.  Not only do they contain no flavors as mixtures of undisclosed ingredients, but also they are certified organic.  To see all Dr. Bronner’s products sold on iHerb, click here.

Mad Hippie

Mad Hippie makes a variety of skincare products that are not only safe but also contain anti-aging ingredients such as vitamin C, Vitamin A, ferulic acid, and peptides.  Speaking of peptides, you might have seen that Crunchi launched a multi-peptide serum, which is great!  Yet, you might not be able to buy it because Crunchi doesn’t ship to your country.  If so, consider getting Mad Hippie face cream on iHerb then.  It has peptides and other skin-nourishing ingredients.  To see all Mad Hippie products sold on iHerb, click here.

In addition, you can click on the purple button below and shop for any products on iHerb and will still receive $5 off your first purchase or 5% off on repeat orders.  Just click on the purple button below to get to the iHerb homepage!
